2019, You're Late

Firstly… I hope you’ve all had a glorious Christmas and a very merry New Year. Alex and I spent our new year’s drunk in the queue of Oceana after he had just been sick in my mates sink. Think of that how you will. But it was one of the best new years yet (As well as last year). I’ve been a bit MIA (missing in action) and I’m fully aware. But it’s probably true that so far this year I’ve had the best highlights and the worst low points of my year so far. I’ve started my new job and it’s the best decision I’ve made since I graduated, I L O V E  IT and everybody has been nothing but friendly. It’s the first job I’ve had where I actually am being the most inspired and creative that I can possibly be, enabled by amazing people and an amazing company. I’m so excited for my future there and have such a good feeling of settlement already. Besides, as we all know, last year was trial and error.  I’ve been stressed because of all the changes but this is my year I’m tellin...

Rethinking Mental Health

Yesterday was mental health awareness day. I had planned to post yesterday to help celebrate everybody with a mental health condition and how well they’re doing but also to promote education about mental health. I actually ended up spending the day shopping in Bristol with my nan and her sister, and my mum. My nan and her sister are bestfriends, I hope one day that will be myself and Lucy.  Because to me, family and friends are the most important thing and I think too much time is spent talking about things on social media as opposed to spending time with those who matter most. That is what after all will combat poor mental health.

I have written about my experiences with anxiety before and I feel that its important to never stop talking about mental health. Mental health is vital, and I agree social media and digital media is one of the best ways to spread education, but it does concern me also that people will happily give out their worldly advice online but actually neglect those who are closest to them. Suffering with loneliness or lacking a sense of belonging are the largest killers in mental health leading to illnesses such as depression, anxiety, OCD or even personality disorders. I also agree many of these conditions can be passed through with genetics, but quality of life is a huge contributor.
Practise what you preach and look after those closest to you.

‘Mental Health is just as important as physical health’
